As the new year begins, the DC Guitars workshop is already busy with a fresh set of commissioned builds underway. Each project represents a close collaboration between player and maker, with every detail shaped around individual playing style, tone preferences and aesthetic choices.
As a UK guitar builder specialising in bespoke guitars, I work one-to-one with players to create instruments that are not only visually distinctive, but built to perform at the highest level. These latest builds reflect that approach – three guitars, each with its own character, purpose and design direction.
Current Bespoke Guitar Builds in Progress
Pavilion Parlor – Set Neck
One of the guitars currently on the bench is a Pavilion Parlor with a set neck. This model combines a compact semi-hollow design with the sustain and feel associated with traditional set-neck construction. As with all bespoke guitars from DC Guitars, the build has been carefully specified to suit the player, from neck profile and hardware choices through to tonal response and finish.
Pavilion Parlor – Bolt-On Neck
Alongside this is a bolt-on Pavilion Parlor, offering a slightly different feel and attack while retaining the familiar Parlor body shape. Bolt-on construction can provide a more immediate response and a subtly different tonal character, making it an ideal choice for players who value clarity and articulation. This build highlights the flexibility available when commissioning a bespoke guitar, even within the same core model.
Pavilion Classic – New Model
Also in progress is a Pavilion Classic, a new model currently being developed and refined in the workshop. As a UK guitar builder, part of my process involves ongoing prototyping and development, ensuring new designs meet the same standards of playability, balance and tone as the established Pavilion range. This build marks an exciting step in the evolution of DC Guitars’ bespoke offerings.
What Sets Bespoke Guitars Apart
Commissioning a bespoke guitar allows players to go beyond off-the-shelf instruments. Every DC Guitars build starts with a detailed discussion about how the instrument will be used – whether for recording, live performance or general playing – before moving into design, materials and construction choices.
Being a dedicated UK guitar builder, I personally carry out every stage of the build process, from initial preparation and construction through to fretwork, electronics installation and final setup. This hands-on approach ensures consistency, quality and accountability throughout.
Built in the UK, Designed for the Player
All DC Guitars instruments are built in the UK using carefully selected materials and professional-grade components. The focus is always on creating guitars that feel intuitive to play and inspire confidence, whether that’s through subtle ergonomic shaping, carefully voiced pickups or a setup tailored precisely to the player.
As these new builds progress, further updates will be shared to showcase the craftsmanship and detail that go into every bespoke guitar leaving the workshop.
